FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
What ActionLine numbers are provided?
This depends on the preference of the client.
Examples -
London Underground
for its reconstruction work at
Tottenham Court Road Station is using a freephone
number
- 08080 707 707.
Amey for
its rail operations decided to use a memorable
alpha numeric number - 07000 RAILWAY (=07000
7245929).
Linden Homes
for a controversial brownfield development in
Surrey chose an 0870 prefix. A national rate
0870 number
was also supplied to Tube Lines for its work
on the Jubilee,
Northern and Piccadilly underground lines.
To maintain
the local focus, the Paddington Bridge Project
(see right) and Croydon Tramlink both diverted
spare STD
extensions on their own switchboards to Prospectus
-
service centre.
In all cases the revenue earning potential
of such numbers has been waived, as it sends out a negative
message to callers.
So what is the difference?
0870 - The call rate is similar
to that of calling a national 01 or 02 prefixed landline.
0844 – Fast replacing
0870 numbers, the call rate is no more than 5p per minute.
0871 – Suitable for
business wishing to receive a substantial revenue share and
thus not an option for Community Relations HelpLines.
0800 – Free to call.
